A battery is a device consisting of one or more electrochemical cells with external connections for powering electrical devices such as flashlights, mobile phones, and electric cars.
In simple terms this is what it looks like,
We all have this in our houses, the battery is the most common power source to our electronics.Lets find out about the polarity of the battery,
Polarity is the property of having two poles that have opposite physical properties; as far as electronics is concerned, there are two poles: positive (+) and negative (-).
The positive pole of the battery has a higher voltage as compared to the negative terminal. The polarity of the battery decides in which direction the current will flow. You must have noticed that in when you place the battery in the opposite direction, the remote controller doesn’t work.
Well another easy way for household battery polarity identification is by spotting the bump end of the battery, that is the positive. The flatter side is obviously the negative one then. This is no rocket science, but we do but the remote batteries upside down….
Using this device we can measure the voltage of the battery. This device is a modern Multimeter but previously we measured voltage using a voltmeter. So in a circuit, we measure the voltage using voltmeter. A voltmeter is is always connected across the component whose voltage we have to measure. In Simplified terms to the two terminals of the components at which we want to measure the voltage.
