Arduino is a platform that creates inquisitive kids which leads to curious adults. I would encourage kids to learn Arduino as a Hobby which will have many advantages on the kids, a few are listed below

As from my experience, Kids do not need to dive deep in to the subject. A few applications that can amaze them can keep them fueled up to learn Electronics and modern technology.
